The Leafs really need to shed cap or they will be a 1-2 round team. You can't win with having just a top 6 and a LD. I do like the thought of trading Marner.

You can't trade Marner unless he asks for a trade. . The cap goes up 4M next season and Brodie is gone that's 9M in cap space. Matthews and Willie's raise only leaves 2.8M to replace Brodie that was making 5M.This team with it's cap issues only chance is 25-26 when JT and Marner contracts are up. Then they decide what direction their going.

not only this, Bonino makes 800k. This is acting like he's a cap dump sending a higher pick with him than NYR are getting back. If anything, it would be a 2nd going to NYR for Bonino and a 3rd. But since he's getting contract termination it's all moot anyway.

That wouldnt get them the 2nd required to land Tanev.
