Are you ‘Saad’ about trading for Reilly Smith?

It doesn’t make sense for either team.

it does, Smith clearly isn't fitting in here.

STL sheds 1 year of term
Pens Shed $500k AAV, works for both teams

Saad has a full NTC, Pens probably one of the few teams he'd waive for.

IT GIVES BOTH A NEW HOME AND THE CHANCE FOR ST LOUIS TO MAKE A RETURN ON SMITH IN THE OFFSEASON AS HE'LL BE SC WINNING VET WING WITH 1 YEAR LEFT AS OPPOSED TO SAAD WITH TWO

It certainly could make sense for both teams. As he stated earlier the year less of term is helpful. Not to mention we could use secondary scoring more than responsible play and Smith seems to not be working out there.

tried to make it reasonable lol I don't think either player is a bad player, Smith just hasn't been working here and maybe Saad gets a bit of a boost playing for his hometown club.

But Smith has not had a bad season. He got hurt after a mediocre stretch of game from the new year and hasn’t been back since. Saad has extra term left. I’d rather keep Smith or trade him for a pick and prospect at the deadline.

Smith has 9 points in his last 30 games... that's not good. 9 points in 30 games isn't mediocre.

Sabres/Preds/Ducks/Blackhawks are the only teams that have enough cap space as things stand to afford him. He's got a 10 team NTC as well, would assume ANA/CHI/BUF are on that. Would imagine even if a contender had an injury they wouldn't want to take on his deal cause he's not a UFA.

Easiest way to move smith is a hockey trade, player for player.
