Tage must make this team even though there will be several players cut who are top players. It’s a decent sign that USA Hockey is catching up.

In two years, I think someone like Jason Robertson or Tage Thompson could probably easily make it over Kreider and Caufield (especially if he's not producing at higher rates) but as @Duggysdanglers said, there will be top players who are cut, and it probably will depend on who is doing well that season. If Kreider is performing to a high level though, he would likely be a lock, based on his age, they seem to take into consideration if it would be a guy's last chance or not at times. Assuming Tage is producing at a high pace, I think not taking him would be a mistake since he could probably use his size to get even more space on the large international ice.

I don't think that would be a first line. If Crosby is there, he probably plays with MacKinnon, Marner likely on a different line (if they look to spread out their playmakers), or with Crosby and Mackinnon. Bedard + McDavid + another (maybe Point or McTavish if he earns the nod) would likely be the top line. I do think that they would be unstoppable though.

Oettinger is likely the backup over Sway.

The US actually developes great players from all positions; hockey Canada has done a **** job developing goalies.
