Description
This TDL I can't see them moving richie or guluyev... these trades upgrade the centre position, backup goalie, and bottom pair defense..

So I think frost might be worth the 1st, behrens included could be an overpay, but if he's not signed soon the avs lose him for free.

Arizona signed dumba to trade him at the deadline, guys not doing so well this year in Arizona, 2 prospects for dumba and the 3rd for johansen.

I'd like to have a better goalie than sandstrom however I don't want to spend all of the avs assets

There's no need to get Dumba. Our depth in D is so good it seems like a waste to pick him up. It makes more sense to use those assets and cap space to get a better backup goalie.

Frost would be a decent acquisition since he still has term and is pretty cheap plus he's an RFA upon expiry. He probably isn't a 2C but he might bridge the gap and he probably fits better than RyJo so that's a maybe for me. A note about Behrens: he has until Aug 15, 2025 to sign or the Avs lose his rights so it isn't urgent but I do think he's their #1 trade chip.

I double checked, I thought it was August 2024 but you're right.

4 mill, and they have 21mill in retired players on their cap right now.. 13 of it expires at the end of the year. I'm sure they'd be happy that johansen will actually play for them

forgot NASH is eating 50%. why would they be happy a 32yo C want to play for them for a year? he will take icetime away from the young guys, rather see them develop than have a guy who is not part of the future play. Im not saying he is bad or would not be solid player but why would AZ need another veteran - already have kerfoot and bjug for next year, thats enough and play the kids.

Gives them options when injuries crop up or when they think a young needs more time in the AHL? And he could be effective enough playing a 3rd line role with younger players. Not saying I'd do it but there are good reasons to have a guy like that around.
