Description
24 TDL:
Sharks make the deals for Campbell and Goodrow to bolster their draft capitol.

Post draft lottery Sharks end up with the 1st OA. 17th (PIT) 27th and 31st (NYR and EDM) plus 2 2nd rounders.

Draft:
1st OA Macklin Celebrini LHC
Sharks watch Levshunov fall to 6/7th OA and make calls and decide to trade their 3 remaining 1st’s to move up, (possibly also add a prospect or NHL player to get the deal done)
6th OA Artyom Levshunov RD
33rd OA Matvei Gridin LW
56th OA Jesse Pulkkinen LD
(HM at some point sharks draft Hugo Havelid G with one of the later picks)

24 offseason:
Sharks opt to let/make Smith, Celebrini, & Levshunov go back to College for 1 more year and work on rounding out their games before they sign their ELC.
Resign most of their RFA, and bring back Barabanov in FA to fill out their roster.
24/25 is likely another evaluation season and growth year with another expectation of getting a lottery pick.

Vlasic and Campbell are potential buy-outs here, but rather than burden the team with 6 years of Campbell and 4 of Vlasic on the books, I opt to give both 1 more year (for Campbell to work with our coaches and potentially turn his career around, Vlasic because we need the cap hit to hit the cap floor anyways) Buy out’s are re-evaluated next year when it reduces the length to 2&4 years.

rangers are in no position to move their first but i would expect nothing less from drury to make a deal like that even though its good value

The Rangers don’t need to offload Goodrow at the deadline, they have plenty of cap space with Chytil on LTIR.

If Lesh is still on the table when the Ducks pick, you know there's a strong chance they take him.

Like I said a hope and a prayer, think Chytil being done negates the appeal of this deal as you now need Goodrow for the playoffs, to be fair I started this before his setback.

Just think of him like a right shot Mintyukov. Eastern European who came to NA to pursue his hockey dream, great offensive upside, good size. I think Mints is the better skater but that's about it.

You guys already stole Mints out from under us in 22! Korchinski and Mintyukov were the two D sharks were interested in, you and Chicago left us with nothing hence the trade back!

Hey man, if the draft was fair, Bedard would be a Duck. When Chicago jumps you this season for Celebrini we can both hate them together.

Unless Tij is available with one of those other picks, I see CGY keeping the pick to draft there themselves. At least that's what I want them to do.

You're suggesting 17, 27, and 31 for 6 or 7. The Athletic has a chart with pick values in GSVA. Pick 17 is 4.5 GSVA, 27 is 3.2 GSVA, and 31 is 2.8 GSVA, so that adds up to 10.5 GSVA. Pick 6 is just 7.6 GSVA, so that's a pretty large overpay. (Pick 3 is 10.2 GSVA).

It's worth noting that the team trading up often overpays a bit based on those numbers so the league doesn't entirely agree with them (for instance when we traded back from 11 to 27/34/45 to get Bystedt that was 1.8 GSVA in our favor which is the value of pick 45), but 2.9 GSVA is a very large amount over and you're talking about throwing in an additional prospect. Something like 27, 31, and 33 would be 8.6 GSVA which would be much closer to the 7.6 value of pick 6, maybe throw in Vegas' 4th or something for an extra 0.3 or so. If the pick is number 7 instead of 6, that's just 7.1 GSVA.

You have to take into account the depth of the draft and this draft is shallower!
Comes down to would you rather have Levshunov or
        Connelly, Hage, & Elick?
For me we have pieces in place for 2/3 and we could still get Charlie Elick within the 29-35 range

Flames desperately need top end talent. I don’t care if it’s 3 firsts for 1. Flames rarely pick this high so they will take the opportunity to when they have the chance. Also we should have a couple extra firsts after the deadline so it’s a less appealing offer. It’s also a weak draft so the best chances of getting an NHL player is to pick high and get one of the more talented players. And this is not just the Flames. Most teams that get picks this high in a weak draft would rather keep the “sure”thing. And yes I do realize high picks do bust as well. It’s about percentages. 3 late firsts could all be busts and the team that gets the one guy who becomes an NHL player wins.

Oh my god! Ready it isn’t about Calgary I just picked a team it’s about how much to move up into range to get Levshunov
