Drury has produced at a rate of 2.21 p/60 at 5v5 since December that's a fine rate

"Where is the evidence that Nelson is going to fall off a cliff?"- He's 32 and father time is a thing... I don't think he's gonna defy time like Brent Burns

"Aho plays with much better players , system doesn’t really have an impact on players, it’s more quality of teammates so you’re wrong" - Except for the last month the two best forwards other forwards than him (Andrei Svechnikov, Martin Necas) almost always played on the second line with KK. System does have a massive effect on play especially at 5v5... The Hurricanes are much more of a point-shot team than the Islanders are

Drurys offensive play driving is below average , his on ice S% will regress.

No one said Nelson is going to defy Father Time. Where is the evidence he will fall off a cliff in the next year and a half. There are usually signs in a players game (lack of primary points, not being able to generate shots , lack of transition success) that show a player is going to fall off a cliff in the near future. What about Nelson’s base stats or advanced analytics show he’s about to fall off?

Isles have been a heavy point shot team for a while - quality of teammates have more of an impact on points than any system. Aho has 6 defenseman that can move the puck at an above average level, makes it much easier for him.

No one said Nelson is going to defy Father Time. Where is the evidence he will fall off a cliff in the next year and a half- There is no evidence but I'm just super weary about trading for somebody 32+ and expecting them to be a top-6 contributor

Isles have been a heavy-point shot team for a while - quality of teammates have more of an impact on points than any system. Aho has 6 defenseman that can move the puck at an above-average level, which makes it much easier for him.- That's a fair point but the Isles have some very good puck movers... Sebastian Aho (D) and Noah Dobson come to mind

Drurys offensive play driving is below average , his on ice S% will regress.- Drury and Noesen drive play together very well so it might fall of a little bit but probably not by a lot. Drury and Noesen are both also very good two-way combination (1.78 xGA/60, 61.57% xGF%)

Nelson is significantly better... than Drury yes... than Aho no. Varlamov would be the starter with the Canes but I'm concerned about his age. My concern with Nelson falling off a cliff is that he's 32 and that starts to be the age when stuff tends to fall off a cliff

After this year, Nelson has one more year left on his deal. Regardless you get a guaranteed legit 2nd line center for at least 1 playoff run. Let's say next year he does fall off. He would only hit 3 million on the cap and still get you 40 points at least. Let's say Varlamov regresses, he isn't making a ton and with at least the first year he will be starting caliber and by the time he falls off, you would hope Kochetkov is starting caliber by the time that happens.
