In general, you have the right idea. The Yotes will play the veterans like Richardson, McGinn and Schenn and see if they can be a bubble team. It will give some prospects a little bit of time to get some pro seasoning before getting called up or playing higher in the lineup when injuries hit. If they're out of it by the deadline, they'll sell those vets off to the highest bidder.
Evander Kane is definitely not a player the Yotes should target. They have too many left-handed wingers as it is and swapping one out for another doesn't really solve that problem, especially considering Kane is one year from free agency and makes $6M this year. If you expect that lineup to miss the playoffs, why not keep Duclair and see if he can rebound from the sophomore slump under a new coach? His contract will be cheap (not as cheap as you have there), so it's worth the risk-reward. Duclair, a 2nd, and a 3rd for a year of Evander Kane on a non-playoff team is just bad asset management.
Your lines are a little jacked up. But I could get on board the Franson signing, though I'd rather it be on a one year.
I don't see any need for the MacDonald trade either. Hill was excellent as a 20 year old rookie starter in Tucson. Langhamer has shown some flashes. And they just signed Miska. If all three of those guys bomb this year, then maybe they look for a deal like that, but it wouldn't be until next off-season at the earliest.
