Description
Saravelli says with the Oilers adding Holloway and Perry for free, Campbell could be moved now more than ever because of him rebounding in the AHL.

He said on Oilersnation Everyday that because of this solid play by Campbell in the AHL (14 Starts x 0.905 Save %) I am wondering if the Oilers want to roll with what they have by making minor additions at the Trade Deadline, and taking advantage of using their first this year to move him to a Club like Chicago or San Jose.

He said Chicago is getting major interest for Mrazek, and as a result I think they would be willing to entertain a thought on Campbell, because of the decent play from him down in Bakersfield.

So my question would be is if the Oilers indeed pay a 1st, and 3rd to Move Campbell which he believes is the ask of San Jose, then what do we think of the Lineup now? Is it beneficial to keep adding or run with what you have?

I think it's quite obvious the Oilers have openly been looking for a Top 4D Right Shot, 3C Right Shot, and also maybe if they go all in, a Top 6 winger to play with Draisaitl. Keep in mind Ken Holland does NOT like to trade high assets like First Rounders for players on rental outcomes. If he was acquiring a player, he wants term still, be it another year after this, or more. I think the Oilers only target for 3C would be Sissons out of Nashville, and for T6 Winger, probably very few but the one that sticks out is Konecney. Both would be extremely high costs to acquire, but are exactly what the Oilers need to win.

It will be interesting to see what Holland does, but I would expect the Oilers to be more likely now because of the Perry signing to move Campbell rather than buying him out. Could we also try and flip him 1 for 1 for another non-performing goalie? Could be something Jersey might want to do with a struggling Vanecek as they fight for any sort of playoff spot? Could be a nice way to get a three way trade done with Chicago? Maybe...

Hypothetically, would the Oilers be interested in acquiring Bertuzzi as a potential top 6 forward?

I imagine if the oilers were gonna dump Campbell they would have already done it I think they’ll save their assets and buy him out next offseason

I think they would, but at a cost of a prospect. Like Lavoie, and they would need retention.

Leafs would love Lavoie cause their bottom 6 sucks and he would make their roster easy peasy, and he is a second round pick equivalent. Like I said though, Retention important here. Minni could get involved if retention was a factor.

Yes this is fair, but I'm going off of Saravelli's word here, he says it could become more of a possibility because of not having to spend assets on fixing what Perry and Holloway will...

This is why I worry a buyout is detrimental to the future success of the club, and if the cost is only a 1st and a third instead of two firsts, why not?

Besides when you think about it, Draisaitl, and Bouchard are looking to extend this summer, which will probably be about just under 25 Million in cap itself between the two.

Yeah likely can’t afford to extend them if you have Campbells buy out penalty

Bertuzzi isn't a bonafide top 6 so I'd hope not.

Fair enough, but Hyman - Kane - Bertuzzi on the wing one after another would be a nightmare to deal with.

It really would, and Perry below them, SHEEEESH! Colorado becomes as pale as ice when they see that lineup.

I see the sharks accepting this. Goalies are like voodoo. If Campbell can rebound, then that's fantastic especially considering that by the time anyone would likely trade for him in 2 years we'll have another retention spot open up with Burns off our books.

Right? Like if your the Oilers and Sharks, the time is now! But you just have to figure out if your wanting to keep a low profile at Trade Deadline, or go all out if your the Oilers.

Do you happen to have a link to Frank talking about this trade idea?
