Raanta seems to have got his game back, but this could work for Carolina if Andersen isn’t expected back. He’s been out an awfully long time but I don’t know if it’s a career ending issue. I’d feel more confident in their cup chances with Markstrom as an option than putting all their eggs in Kochetkov’s basket, and they can afford him if they get rid of Raanta and put Freddie on LTIR.

How does Calgary feel about Markstrom? A late 1st is a cheap price for a #1 goalie if you need one, but if they want to make Wolf their #1, spending $6M cap hit on a backup doesn’t make sense, so getting rid of that contract would be a win, and getting a 1st-round pick back would be a double win.

This is how calgary feels about Marky,he is there mvp and best player,a former vezina finalist and 2nd allstar team.a top 10 starting goalie. he makes the canes or devils legit. and i agree a late 1st is a very cheap price to pay.

In that case I think Calgary holds out for more, especially if they can create a bidding war. Maybe a roster player like Jack Drury, though Carolina would need to replace him because they don’t have a lot of depth at center.

its between jersey and the canes, the leafs cant afford him.but a mid to late 1st for a goalie like Marky is very a cheap price to pay.

Of course not. Kochetkov is in concussion protocol, so Martin is just there to back up Raanta so Perets can go back to the minors and play instead of sitting on the bench.

Is there a rule around how long you have to keep a waivers claim on your NHL roster? The purpose of waivers is to make sure guys who are good enough to play in the NHL don’t get stuck in the minors, but it doesn’t seem right to be able to grab somebody that another team was trying to send down to the AHL only to have him waived again and end up on a different AHL team.
