So going with a 19 man roster is the answer. Sorry, teams really don't control on whether a player signs as UFA, That's Marchment, Joshau, Luby, Kerfoot. Hyman

"doing right by the player" has nothing to do with this. If Kyle had done right by TML Hyman would have been retained or traded for future assets. Foligno would never have put on a Leafs jersey

missing the point PalHal. ...KD had opportunities to put Marchment & Joshua on the roster and sign/retain before they were UFA/traded
and retain draft picks instead of wasting them on rentals
