I’m okay with keeping Dach and the Penguins 2nd
Dach > Kakko
2nd > 3rd
No way the Habs do this

Calgary can always throw in that 5th or something to gain that 2nd coming back. Try and use those picks they got from big Z trade into something. Also Kakko is not bad at all. Both Kakko and Dach are in odd situations on there respected teams. They are both watching other players fill their spots for better or worse. Dach is also out for the season for injury and Kakko is unknown so 🤷

With Dach staying in Calgary that's a decent offer for Tanev and Ruzicka but I can't see Montreal trading Dach and a 2nd for Kakko and a 3rd. In fact if I was the Hab's GM I wouldn't trade Dach alone for Kakko and a 3rd.

What would you offer up for Dach with Kakko as a piece going to MTL? MTL gave up a 1st (Kakko) and a 3rd to get him to start with and has been injured and out for the season, who knows what shape he will be in at that time. Might just be a complete player rebuild.

I like Dach, I wanted Calgary to pick him up long before Montreal got him. Hard to put a proper value on him now with the injuries but he's probably still worth a 1st and a 3rd as long as the 1st isn't a high one. And Kakko isn't worth a 1st anymore IMO, probably not worth more than a mid 2nd now and maybe not even that.

I will do a few more with the ranger trade in mind and then one for Dach at some point here. I would like to see Lafreniere going instead of Kakko IMO.

Yeah it's very difficult for a GM to give up on a former 2nd OA pick. If he starts playing to his potential on the new team it makes the old team and it's GM look bad. But it's even worse with a former 1st OA like Lafreniere.
