Description
Ott wouldn't likey consider this for a couple years if ever but it's fun to think about what the cost would be.
It would be easy to call it 4 first round picks but considering the age of Podkolzin and his mixed NHL results to date and the 2024/2025 picks likely being later, the value is diminished.

I would consider it lesser value than what Mathew got but he is also a lesser player having only 1 PPG game under his belt and IMO a lesser player despite being an absolute physical beast.
The Sens would like use the cap space and some of those assets to improve thier roster in the short to mid term I would assume rather than rebuild.

Carolina, needs to shake up thier roster and could use a scorer. With a very healthy prospect pipeline they can afford to trade a couple 2nds Ina gamble like this and have a strong enough system and roster to cover for Kuzmenko's defensive deficiency.

Seattle adds a decent prospect and a pick for Schultz and eating salary, they would be able to flip Myers for a pick at the deadline as well if they retained. Van might still need to add another asset but I think it would be close depending on how you feel about Raty.

Vancouver goes all in this year to capitalize on the success/luck they've so far had. Thier offense while best in the league is suspect and still are lacking players who can move the puck on the backend and play with an edge upfront.

I'd be fine with Kuzmenko... you can stick him next to an elite playmaker in Aho and just let him score

Canucks decline.
Kuzmenko is not going anywhere because he didn’t ask for a trade, and he deserves another chance with this team.
Trading a first round pick and couple of prospect players is not good if you’re a Canuck GM.
Brady Tkachuk doesn’t deserve to be a Canuck, and Ottawa should keep him long term.
I can see the second trade happen.

If it was Matthew Tkachuk then maybe but I wouldn’t give up that much for Brady

I also think Kuzmenko deserves another chance but I'd love for him to come to my team if yours decided to deal him

Kuzmenko is great but he can't contribute in the same way Brady can.
I think we have at most a 3 year window including this year and IMO this trade puts us over the top in a way few others could. I'm not sure what you mean about Brady not deserving to be a Canuck but while he isn't an offensive force he is probably the most physically dominant player in th NHL and could score 35 playing with Petey while creating a ton of space.

As an incredibly rare player in his prime the cost would be huge despite not being a high end offensive player.

I don't get why people think they can lowball the Sens for Tkachuk. I don't care what he's "theoretically worth" if Tkachuk goes on the market there will be a 31-team bidding war and the best offer would probably come out to:

Your best prospect, your third best prospect, a young middle six forward, and at least one first round pick.

Well the offer was 2 first round picks, arguably our best prospect, our hottest prospect right now and our prospect who has already shown to be a middle 6 NHL but it's questionable if he has top 6 upside. Honestly I overpayed but still think it is worth it to get a legitimate difference maker physically like Brady.
