Oilers might aswell just buy him out themselves at that point. Or you take away the 2024 1st pick and Oilers retain a certain amount of money to make the buy out cheaper

See I like you you're using that brain in there lol. That contract is Chernobyl water its going to be so expensive to dump because of the remaining time. Your best hope is to rehab him and see if you can get a very expensive backup for next season. Look at goalie that all the oils fans here keep trying to gets numbers last year.

Would rather keep Soup as a 5M crappy back up than pay that many futures. And the Oilers look like they’ll be doing just that.

I think so too because everywhere they shop him comes back with an ask thats to steep for them. Now you try to shop him again next year you might have some more luck or convince him to be "injured" like TOR did with murry and LTRI that contract.

His buyout isn’t that bad either. There’s always that option. It’s frees up to go just shop for a 3M goalie on the market I think and essentially you are trading Campbell for that 3M goalie 1 for 1.

It's just paying between 1.5 and 2.6 mill for six years when the jackets "should" be maxing thire cap space in that time frame kills it for me.

Or the Oilers keep the picks and buy Campbell out.

Oh for the Jackets it’d be worth it for those amount of picks. But I’m saying the Oilers could just buy out Campbell and then go shopping for a 3M goalie and they are in exact same spot (cap wise, spending about 5M for a 1B goalie) but get to try someone else out. Not too bad of an option with Skinner as the 1A anyways.

I'm just say what i would want to eat that contract. You don't have to take it.

Because CFACGM is fantasy land where fans pretend like the impossible can happen.

Fair. It just gets old seeing the same stupid stuff over and over. Plus if you're going dumping everyone knows the dumping ground is AZ. They literally tried to build on a closed dump.

They were probably after Elvis. Both goalies were bad last year about equal. Elvis looks to have recovered though so the deal became unrealistic. Oilers fans were trying to swap a 5M goalie for another 5M goalie in a change of scenery type deal. But now will have to swap with a 3M goalie instead. But best to try for the 5M goalie first.

I love how the explanation is Elvis somehow isn't "in our timeline" shows me they watch exactly zero Jackets games. If we could learn to close out a game at all we would be in a playoff spot or close to it.
