My money is on nothing. There's definitely talent on the roster, to me, the problem is there's little concern about how the pieces fit to make a winner. For instance- Thompson and cozens look like nice pieces as top 2 centers, but neither are good defensively, so to round out the team, I would like to add a competent 200 foot center, maybe a guy that can win draws too. What we will likely do is sign mittelstadt, which gives us a backbone of 3 scoring lines, but nobody to take tough d zone starts, and help get one goal leads to the garage. Also, on defense, the Sabres have dahlin, power, and Samuelsson as their best 3. Samuelsson is the only defensive one (although he's not doing anything well right now), and none are overly physical. Unfortunately, the physical players adams has brought in have largely been disappointments. So the Sabres have two younger players taking a larger role- ryan johnson and jokiharju. Johnson and jokiharju don't do much to help our defensive problems, we are far too east to play against, prone to puck watching and giving up high danger chances. So instead of bringing in somebody to help round out our top 3, our gm will take ryan johnson and jokiharju regardless of the fact that they don't add anything to the teams needs. Goalie is its own problem, adams has done very little besides deciding that whatever is laying around will have to do.
