Oh c'mon, you know a huge chunk of those fans were from pittsburgh or pens fans. The cheering for pens goals was basically the same decibel level as Sabres goals, sans the goal horn obviously.

Why is the age thing a factor? The Devils were, at least up until the deadline, the youngest team in the nhl last year. It's a young players game. And if you asked most sabres fans to make a list of the 5 worst sabres right now, how many do you think would in any order have okposo, EJ, Girgensons and/or clifton on that list? Those are some of the oldest guys. A team falls apart like this after getting close last year is likely more than just "they are young".
