They shouldn't do that trade. Calgary is deluding themselves if they think that they are going to get a higher ceiling prospect than Drury or Suzuki

The center market this deadline is Lindholm, Monahan, and Novak. It’ll be expensive.
Drury and Suzuki aren’t high ceiling guys. So I don’t believe its is deluding at all. Both our guys are B- types. A first and a B+ asked isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. I don’t think quantity over quality will cut it for the best deadline center available. Either way it’s not the Canes way of doing things

Yeah I agree.. Lindholm seemed like a homerun idea last season, but not anymore..

I just don't get why a team would pay a first and good prospect for a second-line center rental who's going to leave at season end.
No it's not the Cane's way to pay that much for a rental... we'll find some value version of a fourth line center at the deadline and we'll move on from there

Market pressure, different philosophies on going for a cup, job hot seat, chance of being right, etc. plenty of reasons why

It does make some sense for the organizations but the one getting the better player pays a lot more than if they would just fixed the problem in the summer before the season. I get that sometimes it's caused by injuries or regression that you can't see coming but a lot of time these are issues that you can see from the season... take Toronto's acquiring of ROR last deadline... everybody could see the issue with the LW position in Toronto since the before the beginning of the season and they didn't choose to address it until it cost them way much more

Do you think head office just goes "Ahhh well fix it later"? I think theres a lot more that goes into this that you arent taking into concideration

I would be all for Lindholm, but unless he is willing to sign an extension in the ~6.25mil range, I don’t think the Canes pull the trigger

I'm sure that's there more to consider but some of these things are obvious problems that everybody can see. There are also just some orginizations that are just so stubborn until they are forced by reality to fix problems

It's that plus the first that seems like a lot for a guy who's stats indicate he's much better as a middle-six forward
