You'd have to pay another team to take Barclay Goodrow off of your hands.

No one is taking goodrow without a sweetener and the rangers shouldn’t even do that. Just buy him out in the off-season and deal with it down the road

Also not giving Kane $4m who may or may not be 100%

Maybe eat some salary (1M?) and he might have a bit more appeal…or beyond that get another team in on the deal to eat another 1M. For now, would get some cap back for this year (esp if replaced in lineup by someone on ELC). His buyout isn’t terrible, but they don’t get any immediate relief this year.

The problem is trying to figure out which teams aren’t on his list and then finding a team that has the cap to fit him. Even $1m retention, I can’t imagine a lot of teams would want him

I believe Drury knows exactly who is on his list. And to your point- at 2.6M for 3 more years…might be too short of a list of takers…which is why they’d probably need a 3rd team to eat 1M. Goodrow at 1.6M per is probably a much easier sell. The question is what’s the cost to the 3rd team to do this?

In my opinion, the buy out route isn’t bad. No cap hit next year and the worst cap hit is $3.5m in 2026-27 when Panarin and Trouba are off the books. Every other year is $1.1m cap

Seems manageable until 2030 when it’s over
