You can't place players in the minors if they are injured so Pelletier and Rooney have to stay on the NHL roster on LTIR. Kylington is also on LTIR. It is too late to place Hunt and Gilbert on waivers now which means unless they send Coronato down (which they wont) their minimal roster of 21 players is set and putting them 2.14M over the cap. You cannot accrue cap space while using LTIR thus they wont have any come the trade deadline unless those 3 players get healthy soon

Vegas and Edmonton sure. LA is really not a better team by any means though. Their center depth is on par with Calgary, their winger depth is similar to Calgary, and their defense outside of Doughty is not as good. Not even going to touch on the goaltending gap.

Also you realize that 8 teams make the playoffs from each conference, Dallas and Colorado are locks for the playoffs but past that Arizona could arguably be the 3rd best team. At least 4 teams from the Pacific will make the playoffs and Seattle probably isn't getting 103 goals from their bottom 6 this year
