Description

To start the season they need to paper the waiver exempt youngsters to the AHL. Savard, Armia, Pearson, and Primeau have the best shot of passing through waivers without being claimed. Condotta was just one of the 4 minimum salary AHL veterans that I picked out of a hat. Either Stephens, Keeper, Beaudin, or Maillet would suffice as they’re all on minimum NHL cap hit deals. Once the season starts they would then shift Price, Dvorak and Wideman to in-season LTIR to maximize cap space flexibility during the season. Risking Savard, Armia, Pearson and/or Primeau being claimed off waivers is worth enabling that flexibility.

I think it's much more likely we start with Dvorak on LTIR, run a 23 man roster (with Price and Wideman on IR ) then as soon as the season starts switch Dvorak off for Price which would also maximize space and is a lot more realistic imo

I heard that his back will keep him out through October. This was just an exercise to see if they could maximize LTIR flexibility

I think there will be a lot of LTIR gymnastics on day 1. Let’s see how they play it. I was just speculating and seeing what the options were in order to maximize LTIR flexibility.
