I think the Hawks accept in a heartbeat, while Panarin has a big ticket, his contract expires at the same time Bedard’s entry level deal is done.

To get a prospect like Othmann as payment for taking Artemi’s contract would be a very good risk for Davidson to take.

I don't like the idea of acquiring Panarin, for CHI. I think the offensive production of a player like him will artificially inflate the stats of whoever he plays with, then we will end up artificially higher in the standings missing out on the high picks that our rebuild needs, while also giving out extensions to players that reflect that artificial stat inflation and putting CHI on a quick path to cap hell.

Davidson has shown a concern for getting contracts right. So, artificially inflating stats and overpaying on extensions seems counterintuitive to what he is trying to do.

Also, I could be wrong and I do like Othmann a lot as a player, but I don't think he fits what CHI is trying to build. He checks a few boxes, for sure, but skating is an important one that I don't think he has enough of.

I'm also not sure that the value represented here is enough to remedy those concerns.

Of course this would all be dependent on Panarin waving his NMC to go back to Chicago, which is very unlikely. It is fun to think about though, Panarin, Hall, and Bedard on a line
