Panarin has a full NMC so I agree. Both Kreider and Trouba have NTC next year. It’d be dumb to not get out from under the problem contracts. If Panarin isn’t moveable the only way to give Laf top 6 time is by getting rid of Kreider. Trouba is overpaid for what he does and needs to go for Schneider to get a bigger role. This team needs to shed as many big contracts as they can and set the stage for contention when the young core reaches their prime (Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Schneider, Kakko, Chytil, Laf) and supported by Othmann, Cuylle, Sykora, Berard and Perrault. I see Kreider, Trouba, Goodrow and Panarin as the transition team to bridge the gap till the young core is able to take over the team. By keeping Mika and Trocheck, we’ll keep our experience down the middle and they won’t be counted on as much.

The timing when Trouba’s contract ends is perfect for Schneider. I believe if Schneider is on the 2nd pair in 2024-25, the defense will be weaker overall

You can literally give Laffy top 6 time with Kreider on 3rd line. Kreider still gets a lot of playing time since he’s on PP1

NHL coaches are notoriously terrible at playing young players over established veterans. By taking away those veterans, I don’t plan on giving them that option and forcing their hand. Priority for the Rangers has to be continuing to develop their young guys. Problem is they’ve got no 26-28 year olds to bridge the gap from the older vets and young kids. Things could’ve been different if we kept Buch, but that’s done. I don’t want to continue the trend of letting go of decent young players for them to flourish elsewhere. We need to deal with the pains and let them push through. Otherwise we might as well rebuild all over again.
