For hronek, given he will be 26 when the extension starts and he is very good but not elite, I think 6 years is better. That said, I can definitely see it being 8 years when you consider what weegar, severson, sanheim, parayko, etc all signed

Most of the UFA's will be re-signed before July 1st. But there should still be a few good ones available.

Imagine giving Hronek 6X6.5M. This guy is going to get exposed this season.

I think the point being, this was his first year being good. If he can replicate it, the Canucks will look smart.

Typically though when a team develops a player for years and then sell the player despite needing players in that position, it means they don't think the player can replicate their success.

Time will tell on this one but historically the team selling knows the player a whole lot better than the team buying.
