Description

Pearson is penciled down to start the season to be under Cap so Van can actually accrue then brought back. TBH I don't know where he fits on this roster "if" he's 100%. Need to give time to the younger players. Only other option I see is moving Podz down as he's still exempt and have him really develop and hopefully showcase Pearson to trade him.

We mix size with skill on each blue line pairing, I know Irwin was brought in as a 7th but played over 60 games last year should be fine as a 3rd pairing D unless Woo takes a big step forward and claims that spot.

With 2 Mil retention I think we can trade Myers without taking a contact back to the right team. He should have value at TDL @50% retention only being Mil cap hit

Not sure that we would. Before Gudas absolutely, but at this point I think we are leaving the third RD spot open for someone like Helleson or one of the other young guys.

There has been a bit of a debate of being able to trade Myers full cap without taking something back. This I think is a feesable option that Can is willing to do that gives us enough cap flexibility for the season

Players get injured. Adding Myers gives ANA only 3 NHL caliber RD. Helleson will get a shot.

That said, he didn’t show out at all in the AHL last year, I don’t see any reason to assume he’s ready for a full time NHL role. Especially when we could get a towering Myers for basically nothing, and could likely get something back for him at the deadline retained (after which Helleson can enjoy all the NHL time he wants)

Also, if you assume Lacombe plays NHL, and one of Zell or Minty gets time, they could both use a big, veteran, defensive RD partner for each of them to pair with for their development. Pairing them with Helleson will be tough
