Honestly Just dipping a toe in to see NY fans thoughts. Please offer your thoughts and alternatives if these seem lopsided.

trade 25 1st plus Goodrow to SJ for Nico Sturm and a 4th. Gives NYR 1.6 mil cap savings for the next 2 years and then you’re free and clear.
I See Sturm as virtually the same quality player though Goodrow has a little more position flex.

I added Sturm cause Goodrow fills his spot and both together is redundant

Agreed but he would get at the very least a 3rd on his own. It's just awful cap management to bring in Goodrow with where this team is

Getting another 1st is huge and sharks are flush with cash next year. Cap isn’t an issue

Rumors where to move Goodrow would require a 1st I thought adding Sturm who is almost a carbon copy of Goodrow and a 4th made this more palatable, plus pushing the first out to 25 instead of 24 but that is because sharks have an outside chance at 3-4 1sts in 24 depending on TDL deals and if NJD make the ECF.

A good attempt to try and find balance but no chance the NYR would give up a 1st to move Goody. More media driven than anything.

Moving cap costs especially a long contract like his! And you’re getting a cheaper version with a shorter contract and a 4th. Personally I wouldn’t move Goodrow as he is one of “those guys” that cup contenders need. But yea media pushed Goodrow and a 1st for future considerations this seems way more reasonable
