I don’t mean to be critical but we just drafted a right D at 5th overall, we have Justin Barron and Logan Mailloux. All 3 are going to be good for many years. So I don’t understand bringing in dumba for 4 years. I like dumba Btws.

dumba is good. maybe all three of barron, mailloux, and reinbacher work out, but you cant know for sure. its good to have a vet like dumba on a reasonble deal to eat up some minutes and help ease rookies into the lineup. reinbacher likely jumps over him by next year but mailloux and barron, im not so sure.

as for adding laf on a one year, its basically the same as when carolina Offer Sheeted kotkaniemi. one year big cap hit so that NYR can't match, then sign him long term next year on a smaller cap hit. hoffman, armia, monohan, and dvorak all expire in the next one or two years. once they are off the books montreal will have its top 6 set long term with slaf, suzuki, caufield, dach, newhook, and laf. the oldest player in that group is suzuki
