That trade makes no sense for San Jose.

-Not sure why a rebuilding team like the Sharks gives up any asset for 2x$2.75M of a 33 year old #4/5 type defenseman. The Sharks already have plenty of over-30 D that they're trying to move, why would they add?

-Florida signed Anthony Stolarz, I think they're out of the goalie market currently.

-I can't see the Sharks retaining 4x$4M *and* taking back an older Jeff Petry and his $6.25M AAV for this package. Poulin's not a great prospect, Ty Smith is basically a 3rd pair guy, and the picks being progressively deferred doesn't really inspire a lot of excitement. Either you dump the Petry contract or you get the retention with this offer - I don't think San Jose is gonna do both.

2 Below average prospects, 2 cap dumps and 1 million more retention than the Sharks are willing to do.

If it were this easy, it would be done by now. Sharks want better quality assets and fewer cap dumps. Here is how it looks realistically.

To pitt - Karlsson @ 8mil
To SJ - Petry (if he even waives which is doubtful) Blomqvist, 2024 1st, 2025 1st (no protection on either 1st)

That is realistic and fair.

You are not getting that haul for a player with a NMC and all the leverage. You're lucky to get one 1st in the package, let alone two unportected

This is pure delusion at its finest. You might as well be a Leafs fan.

1 his NMC doesn’t matter if the only two teams left are both teams he would accept a trade for. He literally told Grier that he would waive for anyone that is a playoff team. Stay updated before posting malarkey.

2) sharks have already stated multiple times (4 times since the TDL) that they would not retain more than 3 mil. Again, get up to date so your argument has merit.

3) he just had the fifth best season by dman in NHL history.
