Description

Bergy re-signs, if not slot in brown, poitras or mclaughlin. Either way with or without bergy we have center depth with Coyle, Zacha, Geekie, Freddy.

The comtois signing is a speculative one because of the B's history with former Ducks (Plus lindy and Shattenkirk could factor in here). But the B's could go a few different ways with the last few $. They could keep the money open for a young guy (Beecher, Lysell, Poitras, Merkulov), they could give it to a fringe guy (mclaughlin, brown), or they could take a flier on some available UFA's looking to prove themselves (Suter, Sundqvist, Comtois, Gurianov)

I think you're a little high on Frederic and a 2yr deal makes him a UFA at the earliest possible point. Over the last 2yrs his production is similar to Geekie, who Boston just signed for 2yrs at $2 million. He was also a UFA and UFA's tend to cost more. I'd think Frederic is more like 1yr @ $1.7 million.

Makes sense, I think if anything they'd sign him for more term maybe something like 3-4 years. I was using the Geekie AAV as a basis, I think he possesses a similar skillset as Geekie but with a little more grit. As a guy developed within the organization they may reward him with a little more cash than a guy on more of a prove it deal.
