Not a sufficient return to eat Goodrow’s contract

Take the NYR package and add a 3rd rd pick to it and change the ANA to the good old "future considerations" - that would be enough.

Tatar on a 4 mill cap hit doesn’t hurt us at all for only two years but a goodrow on a 3.6 does. He wants a two year deal as well.

Tatar is a better defensive and offensive player than goodrow. Having him in our top 9 over goodrow is a major upgrade.

If trading Goodrow I wouldn't want to take the cap savings (and then some) to add another 30+ year old player. I would either invest most of the money into 2 players who put up similar offensive numbers as Goodrow and save some cap space for later in the year (i.e. any 2 of Boqvist, Heinen, Motte, Comtois, for example) or hold the entire savings and bring up some of the young guys (Othmann and Cuylie)

Your team gunna get beat up by 10 year olds, probably get out-skated by those squirts, too.

Swapping goodrow for tatar doesn’t make our team slower

They’re already too slow.

My thought process is to let othmann and cuylle play in the ahl. Don’t rush them, especially othmann. Getting a top 9 winger is important to the team I think, having a fourth liner full that roll will be a drastic difference than someone like tatar. That is just my thoughts however, who knows. I think that’s the last move to make.

They aren’t a fast team, but play style matters most. That one move doesn’t alter the teams speed or physicality in anyway tho. Just improves offence and defence.

I don’t even like Goodrow. And his contract is even worse. But the team is so depleted and desperate for the few things he can do, unfortunately it justifies/explains/supports his salary on the Rangers.

Yes it would. Nemeth had 2 years left on his cap dump trade - NYR sent 2 picks a few years down the road and NYR got a player back. This is 2 picks and a young cost-controlled player with nothing being sent back for a contract with 4 years on it. Also gives ANA another deadline asset to trade when they are sitting near the bottom of the Pacific again.
