Avs aren't doing that at this point but, if both players turn out to not be re-signing with their respective clubs, it's not a bad trade for each team.

Considering his injury, he might not play an nhl game ever again. But if he recovers, he might be a good 2nd line D-man. But I feel the healing from major injury will effect his game forever.

I read that with Landeskog out for the 2023-2024 season, the Avs are looking to trade or sign an immediate impact player (like Nylander) to replace the injured captain. So perhaps they’ll trade their 2nd left D Toews for Nylander, so Toronto gets a solid Defensive D man which they very well need. Even without Toews Colorado still has a pretty good Defence. So they could sacrifice some defence for the offence boost.

They value their D a lot so it still seems unlikely but it's not out of the realm of possibility
