Would Grier dip two 2nd round picks into his draft capital to acquire a 22/23 year old right shot defenceman with potential left in him to eventually try and help replace Karlsson (they are likely to get draft capital back in a Karlsson trade anyway)? With their glut of right D, Columbus can't expect a king's ransom for this guy if they simply need to clear room. Nonetheless, these picks will likely be earlier 2nd round picks too, not a bad return at all. Could perhaps have done a 2024 2nd and 2025 3rd.

I think Grier could, but if CBJ is desperate enough to move Boqvist as the one to go they might not get this good of a return

I think one 2nd is fair or add in a lower level prospect. Two 2nds seems rather rich to me. I would love San Jose to give him a shot

Seems like a perfect scenario if the Sharks end up trading Karlsson soon enough. They'll need a rightie to be able to play in his stead.

Fair enough. If it comes down to it, perhaps the Jackets would keep Boqvist and trade Bean first, if they wanted to clear cap. They could do that and get an average return, stomaching it easier than trading Boqvist for an average return. Wait 'til they get the right offer.

He’s young and could fit for a long time, that’s my first target for an addition on the right side

The Sharks just swapped D prospects with the Devils in the Meier trade at the deadline, they could peddle one of them to the Jackets in place of the second pick. They can't expect Provorov to stay forever, or Gudbranson to last .. in a couple of years they might be able to use a depth defenceman in the mid-20s in age, though they do seem to remain kind of rich in D, with Jiricek, Ceulemans and Mateychuk coming.
