tracking the greatest prospect evers rise to winning the hart 8 years in a row

This guy was projected to go in the 3rd round. I’m not necessarily saying they should have picked somebody else, but why didn’t they trade down to an early-to-mid-2nd and get another asset out of it? Last year they traded down to dump Mrazek and got the guy they wanted anyway. Doing the same thing this year would have been a great way to get rid of Murray (higher cap hit than Mrazek but only for one year, so the price should have been similar), and they probably still would have ended up with Cowan. Cowan may turn out to be a great player, but this seems like a missed opportunity to me.
