          He's right. It would be a fair trade without the salary retention, but you Toronto taking on over 5 million in dead cap space for basically only Maata. Bad trade for Toronto.

          The Pens did the Leafs a favour by taking Kessell (even if the Leafs pay 15% of his salary). But 3m retention for Phanuef is too much, though I wish Phanuef would go away, and JVR is a valuable asset and hopefully a good player again.
