Description
The two trades are what I would like to see. Signing Halak would be in July and likely the same for RFAs.

Kings decline. We need a reliable starter goalie.

I don't get your goaltending gymnastics here, it seems pointless to be honest. Keep the younger goalie during the rebuild. Why trade him for a bottom six forward and then replace him with a 73 year old backup goalie? I do think the PHI deal is plausible.

Two Copley’s are better than one.

Because a 2nd round pick is a fair return for him and adding on Lizotte would be a nice return given LA is up against the cap and they need affordable goalies.

Montembeault is nowhere near Copley. Montembeault numbers have been horrendous.

I mean, I'm not going to belabour some random trade you proposed on Armchair GM... I mean, whatever floats your boat. I just don't see the point of this trade from a Habs perspective given that one of their organizational weaknesses is quality young goaltending and you're proposing trading their best young goaltender and replacing him with a 38-year-old backup. You'd be better-off proposing a trade for Allen and replacing him with Halak than trading Montambeault.

Allen would cost us futures to trade because he has no value. Monty has value for the reasons you stated. Trades require giving something up. We can’t trade Allen and get assets. Obviously if that was possible we would have to do it.

I guess my point is that from my perspective, Monty is more valuable to the Habs right now than Lizotte and a 2nd round pick would be mostly because of the lack of goaltending depth in the organization and the fact that younger goalies are less likely to end up on the injured list than guys in their late 30s.
