The nhl needs to do something about how nhl rfa are dictating where they want to play, the nhl is starting to look more like the NBA a few teams being supplied by the remainder of the league. Build a young stars for him to leave... it's getting ridiculous.

I have a hard time seeing DET giving up 17th pick plus all those others for him. OTT is not gonna get back what they gave up for him. Debrincat kind of holds the cards here because he has to sign with the team hes sent to.

Isnt that the whole point of being a free agent? Choosing where you want to sign?

7/27 isn't working maybe do a 10/30 let teams keep their player that they drafted , also if a rookie chooses not to sign them he doesn't play. Why have a draft system if certain players just wait it out.

But that doesnt apply here, the team that drafted him traded him.

I think the only thing that works here is maybe implementing a NSC for RFAs. Where theres a 15-team list that a player would not sign with. If an RFA is traded in his contract year, he submits a list. The team he ends up being traded to, he must sign with for a minimum of “x” amount of years.

DeBrincat is 25 with 5 years in the nhl I think, he has no nmc but is basically holding ottawa over a barrel and is going to be traded to a team of his choice, same thing with pld and tkachuk did it as well 20 teams are grooming rookies for the rest..

But thats what Im saying you take some of that control away by making them submit a list of teams they will and wont sign with. They still have some control but teams dont get totally screwed either.
