Description

You'd have to pay me a lot of money to play in Buffalo instead of NYC, but overpaying him for two years might do the trick. Worried about the Rangers retaliating? Don't be. Sabres don't have any valuable RFAs currently and the Rags don't have their 2025 2nd or 3rd round picks that they'd need to offer sheet anybody next summer. They won't be able to retaliate until 2025 at the earliest.
Keeping VO for now because there's no point in giving him away for anything less than a 2nd round pick, might as well keep him for depth. Other forwards are pretty much set for this year. Kulich and Rosen both need more seasoning in the AHL.
Running it back with UPL, Comrie and Levi. A more mature team and upgraded defense will make this trio look a lot better. No use in giving up on UPL at this point.

What's nonsense about it? Rangers will have a lot trouble paying him that much, Buffalo has cap space for days this year and next.

Why? Buffalo's biggest need is defense. They won't want to pay the acquisition price or give huge new contracts to players like Hanifin or Pesce. Miller has shown flashes of being really really good defensively and will only get better. He fits the timeline perfectly and Buffalo can afford him for now.

Tough to argue with that reasoning. You're right, why would a team in need of defense want a good, young defensemen with 4 more seasons until UFA?

Yeah, I'm 100% sure they will offer him one, and he will sign it, and the Rangers will let him walk. You know, because offer sheets are so abundant each year and they are always successful. Good luck with it.

Miller isn't worth it and Rangers have no cap to "retaliate" with anyways. Let them try to offersheet Kulich in 2026-2027 for 6 mil because they couldn't do anything more

It may make sense for a lot of teams because Miller is that good, but it ain't gonna happen.

Or they could just extend Kulich while he's in the last year of his ELC and not have that problem.

I wouldn't avoid an offer sheet for a great young player because the other team MIGHT retaliate in 3 years.
