Description

Connor Brown takes a 1 year prove-it deal to show he's fully healed and to play for Lavy finally.

Blake Wheeler is convinced by his buddy Trouba to take a $1M deal to chase a Cup after being bought out by Winnipeg.

Gavin Bayreuther is whatever - could be Matt Irwin due to the Lavy connection or Kyle Burroughs or any other 3rd pair / 7th D-man that's able to take a sub-$1M deal.

Stepan seems like a perfect 4C for us and I'd love to see him back in NY.

Other options besides ZAR to round out the 4th line (main criteria being 4th line defensively sound players that can be had for $1M or less) - Tyler Motte, Juhjar Khaira, Brett Ritchie, Joel Kiviranta, Nick Bjugstad, Corey Perry if he doesn't retire, probably others I'm forgetting

Othmann ideally spends the season in the AHL. If he looks good there and the Rangers have injury problems, he comes up.

Cuylle starts in the AHL but is the first man up if someone in the bottom 6 goes down to injury long term.

Read the description but - Winnipeg buys out the last year of his contract and he signs for cheap in NY to chase a Cup. No idea how realistic it is, but I know if I lived in Winnipeg for the past 12 years or so, I'd jump at the chance to live in NYC for a year lol

Really dont want to buy out Goodrow b/c while no cap hit this year or next concerned of the $4m+ cap hit that comes up when we have to make the decision on Igor as well as 2nd contract Laf.

That's true. The benefit to buying him out this year is the $200k cap credit you get this year and the $100k you get next year - it doesn't sound like much but NYR are so strapped it could really help them. Plus by the time that $4M cap hit comes around, the cap should be like $10M higher than it is today.

However, I'm open to trading him instead of buying him out if it doesn't cost too much. I don't want to lose next year's 2nd or this year's 3rd to do it. And obviously not any of the 1sts.
