As a Caps fan I'm torn. I think it does help both teams but I know Kuz will turn it on and just shred it with CAR and put up 90 points.

Yea I don't see them making any deals but at the same time not many teams can tap Kuzy's cap hit, provide a very solid top 4 defenseman and Turbo on top. But probably very doubtful. Caps might not be vying for the playoffs though even if they don't want to fully rebuild until Ovi retires.

Yea I know he probably would sign for less but that number would guarantee he comes and is a solid 7th rotating in and out. Probably gets a bump from the playoff run even at his age no?

You’d struggle pretty mightily to find a guy who had a more disappointing and alarming season than Kuznetsov but somehow you did it, Teravainen is that guy.

I think they do want to make the playoffs. But they realize they can't blow out all their draft assets anymore unless it is for a player who can help them now and for seasons beyond (see: Sandin). And that deal wasn't a "give up the whole farm" trade. That means banking on the prospects and players they have now.

They will trade Kuznetsov, to who idk. I like the trade you suggested but I can't see them trading in division. They'll probably trade Mantha for whatever they can get. Select who they will this draft, call up McMichael and anyone else they see as necessary. They'll hope for better health and consistency, see where they're at at the deadline. If things are good, try to improve the team. If thing aren't, sell. Pretty standard.

Pretty sure Kuzy just did not care at all this season and was trying to force his way out so a change of scenery could do the trick. Turbo had some personal issues and injuries this year I am pretty sure so might be an anomaly.
