Description
Offence is not a concern for this team, the defence is the prime concern, and even in net. I think the team should be patient with Campbell and Skinner, they both have elite upside. Jack Campbell was a first team All star goalie just one year ago. Skinner is a Calder trophy candidate. I think they can split the workload just fine. Especially with the defence improved. With Erik Karlsson. Not only does the defence of the team improve, but the offence of the team also improves drastically. This team could be offensive juggernaut unlike anything the league has ever seen. Not saying it would but it definitely could. When you have Connor Mcdavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Erik Karlsson. All three coming off an MVP caliber season, and David Kampf upgrading your bottom 6 depth. Not sure what the demand is for Karlsson, but it could definitely cost the Oilers much more. Erik Karlsson just had arguably one of the greatest seasons of all time for any defensemen, and there’s no doubt in my mind he’s the Norris trophy winner for the 22/23 season. Despite playing on one of the worst teams in the NHL. He will undoubtedly also get some votes for the Hart trophy as well. I think any package with the Oilers and Sharks will have to involve Nurse, and potentially even a little bit of retained salary. Oilers will giving up a lot more for Karlsson, but it be worth it.

Erik Karlsson was top 20 among all D defensively this season. 17th in loose puck recoveries. 16th In blocked passes. Erik Karlsson was also among the top 50 in shots blocked this season. Needless to say, Karlsson is as good if not better defensively.

He's younger than Karlsson and I feel like he still hasn't played his best hockey, they also get a 1st round pick which should be the main objective

Rebuilding San Jose will have a 28 year old dman with a full NMC on a $9m cap hit. Meaning they can't move him for good future assets. San Jose won't be competitive for 5 years minimum. Ownership doesn't want valuable expensive assets sitting on the roster that can help the rebuild. Nurse is the exact opposite of what San Jose needs.

Also, Erik Karlsson had 81 takeaways this season. Only 1 less than Mcdavid. Putting him #3 in takeaways for any defensemen this season.

I think any deal for Karlsson will come with the other teams worst contract. From there the Sharks will demand more significant pieces. Draft picks, prospects, etc. I think a deal for Karlsson will definitely cost more than what I stated. At least another 1st round pick at the minimum.

Try perhaps. And they'll fail miserably just as EVERY org. that attempts to expedite their rebuild. Regardless, the NMC on Nurse defeats the initial trade offer and the chance SJ could trade him for a good return.

Then add Campbell, Ceci, Yamamoto, etc. Nurse is valuable to EDM even if his contract is not great value.

Ignoring the fact that this tactic will almost certainly alienate Nurse and many future players from ever signing in EDM, this would also create a lineup problem at LD. Staal and Broberg are not his equivalent. And even if Nurse did waive him NMC to go to SJ, SJ then has a player with a NMC they now need to waive again to trade for futures.

SJ absolutely has no interest in Nurse or is contract and Nurse has no interest in SJ. Also your statement about Nurse having to be involved in any Karlsson deal to Edmonton is false
