Nylander for Pesce and the PHI 3rd is probably close to equal value.

Based on re-sign-ability (Nylander might want 10mil).

But really TOR gets the dman they badly need, a good pick, which they have few of, and 3mil in cap space.

(But some of the UFA signings are low)

Willy > Pesce; goals always trump defense (2nd pair defenders at that). Leafs aren’t going to make themselves worse in short term

Maybe, but I think the saying has always been defense wins championships.... and it depends what you think hasn;t worked for the Leafs.

I could argue and say that offense isn;t leafs weakness.

But it comes down to resignability, and the leafs getting a high in the round 3rd and 3mil in cap space and benefits as well.

(Really I dont think Leafs should be dealing any of their core guys for a UFA in any way)

In the playoffs - defense gets easier (refs stop calling penalties). Offense is at a premium & Willy is a game breaker. Canes are a really good team defensively (boring style imo but effective) but they can’t score. A player like Willy is exactly what they need - Pesce on the Leafs, not that exciting tbh

As a Leafs fan, I can honestly say that there's no way Carolina accepts that deal. Jarvis is about to breakout and Pesce is one of their top D. The FA signings are okay - not sure what Kane is actually 'worth' at this point and honestly would prefer to see a 1 or 2 year deal - definitely not 3 for that guy!

Adding Jarvis to that deal is laughable
