Offseason 4

Créé par: Pensfan303
Équipe: 2023-24 Penguins de Pittsburgh
Date de création initiale: 9 juin 2023

Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
-- Jarry walks as the pens aren't confortable in giving him the term he wants with his hip issue and injury history.

-- Zucker also walks as he wants one last big payday.

-- Kampf is a good 3rd/4th line center, Good on in the circle, good penalty killer and can chip in on offense.

-- Raanta is a solid vet Goalie who can easily start if injuries happen. something Desmith struggled with last season. Has been reliable throughout his career, you know what you are getting with Raanta.

-- Bunting is a good TWF which is much needed on Geno's wings and is the most Jason Zucker type replacement in FA. Having Dubas as POHO, I truly believe if we are to get one of the top UFA fowards, it will be Bunting.

-- Pius Sutter just like Kampf is a really solid bottom 6 TWF who can play both wing and center if needed. Can chip in on offense, play the PK, PP2.

PIT
  1. Campbell, Jack
  2. Foegele, Warren
Détails additionnels:
It's also no secret that Jack Cambell did not work out in EDM last season and is now seen as the backup to Stuart Skinner which is less than ideal with Cambell having 4 years left at 5 mil. With the Penguins now needing a starting goaltender and not wanting to pay a premium for the likes of Gibson, Helly, Ulmark and the FA group looking not so great with Adin Hill looking to get paid, they pivot to a familiar face to Dubas. A goaltender who had a lot of success with Dubas in Toronto.

As EDM also looks to revamp the bottom 6, and clear a bit of cap space, they move on from Forgele who in my eyes is a good 3rd liner who can produce at a decent rate, he simply has trouble finishing.

The way I see this trade, EDM gets out of 2 years of Campbell's contract which seems immovable right now while taking on Granlund who makes the same AAV however has 2 years less.

Oilers fans, would you guys do this type of trade?
EDM
  1. DeSmith, Casey
  2. Granlund, Mikael
Détails additionnels:
It's no secret that Granlund did not work out at all in Pittsburgh and is viewed as a cap dump since he has little to no value. So Dubas decides to move him in a Bad contract for Bad contract Hockey trade.

With the pens wanting to revamp the crease, they also move on from Desmith as he is a solid backup, but cannot be relied on as a starter if needed. Here he would go to EDM and Backup Skinner.
2.
PIT
  1. Grzelcyk, Matt
Détails additionnels:
With Boston looking at a slight re-tool and looking to shed cap in order to re-sign the likes of Bertuzzi and Orlov, they move on from Grzelcyk who's role saw a slight decrease under new coaching.

Pens get a small but yet really good mobile TWD to play in their top 4 as they look for more consistency on the back end.
BOS

PIT

    ANA
    1. Smith, Ty
    Détails additionnels:
He or POJ should probably be traded this offseason for a more sure thing on defense with the penguins still wanting to compete.

Whether he's traded for picks, a 3C or a dmen like Grzelcyk remains to be seen, but I wouldn't be comfortable starting the season with him and POJ on the left side.

Trying to spread out the top talent and someone like Puustinen/Nylander could do pretty good in a top 6 role

I understand the Campbell trade, it's just very risky. He has a lot of term left on his contract. If he doesn't work out that's a big miss.

It's for sure a big risk and if Jarry isn't back, I don't see the pens going and paying a big time price for a goaltender and Unless Andersen doesn't re-sign in Carolina ( I think he will re-sign), there isn't much in FA besides Hill who is gonna get paid.

Other options could be Vladar, UPL but both are unproven

EDM says no. Campbell & Foegele are much better bets than DeSmith & Granlund! EDM says hell no.
BOS says no. You're really undervaluing Grzelcyk! He was 3rd in the league in EV goal diff!
POJ($825k) & Smith(No arb rights, $874k qualifier) are cheap players you want to keep! The defense needs to get younger, not older!

Basing it off every single Boston ACGM a 2nd seems more than fair value.
The defense needs to get more well rounded. IDC what the age of that player is, we are going for 1 last cup run and having basically 2 rookies doesn't help that case espicially when 1 can be moved to improve the team. not to mention both are offensive minded.
as for the EDM trade, If EDM wants to get out of the Campbell contract, this may be their only way. It's not as far off as you make it seem

It is far off! EDM is not so desperate to get rid of Campbell that they would make such an awful deal that would be unanimously hated by the team and fanbase!
Again, you're totally undervaluing Grzelcyk! A 2nd rounder for one of the best 5v5 defensemen from last season who also has a great cap hit... You're trippin!
POJ & Smith have far more upside compared to Chad Ruhwedel or Mark Friedman!!

once again like I said, I went through a bunch of Boston ACGM and that's was the consesus price don't balme me for boston fans setting the price haha

Ruhwedel and Freidman are 7th dmen and wouldn't start. you move one of POJ or Smith for a more proven dmen or middle 6 foward, there no denying they have more upside than Ruwedel and friedman haha, don't know why that's brought up, pretty random.

If EDM wants to keep campbell, than good for them, this is a scenario in which they want to move him and in that case, it's a pretty fair trade as they don't have to give up a 1st+ to dump him or deal with 8 years of buyout money. I also highly doubt EDM fans would hate the deal.

It doesn't matter what price fans are setting, you should have some common sense. There's no way you give away a very productive veteran with an incredible cap hit! They could get better than just a 2nd rounder. His numbers were incredible last season!
You really think Granlund being overpaid for 2 years(the same cap hit you suggest EDM is trying to get rid of with Campbell...) and 1 more year of DeSmith being a backup is worth 4 years of Campbell & one of EDMs most impressive depth players in the playoffs? Most fans want to move Ceci, Kulak & Yamo to create cap space for adding upgrades. Campbell could be traded but you're suggesting a downgrade and EDM is in a 2-3 year cup window! You're making no sense!
I know without a doubt that EDM fans would passionately hate this deal. I've been a Pens fan my whole life but live in Edmonton and follow them as closely as I do PIT, maybe more given the news/conversations around here are mostly regarding EDM. They're not trading Campbell for DeSmith! THAT'S A JOKE! If they're moving him than they're swinging higher, not lower!
PIT needs to waive Ruhwedel & Friedman so they can keep POJ & Smith on their roster! They should be competing for ice time all year as the 3/4LD. You have Ruhwedel & Friedman in those spots. It doesn't make sense!

So you want the pens to basically split POJ and ty smith game time and 1 is a healthy scratch now who is the one not making sense ahhahaah, why on gods green earth would you waste an asset with that value to be the 6th-7th dmen?? that makes NO SENSE. Ruhwedel is a perfect 7th dmen as hes a good vet that goes in does his job, doesn't really hurt the team. FYI i also do not have friedman in a NHL spot on this, he on the "taxi squad" meaning hes going to be in the AHL and not on the NHL roster.

also technically if you base it off stats, Desmith is an upgrade over Campbell, now they would have different roles as Campbell would be a 1B and Desmith a pure backup which leads a whole other debat. I think the trade is pretty close and honestly that's all that matters haha, It's a ACGM, it's for fun, you are taking it way and i mean way to seriously.

a 2nd ain't that far off for a player who only has 1 year left. Is it a bit off sure, but to pretty suggest that it's even close to being in the ball park is just not true.
