Probably better off keeping Samsonov rather than trading him to your provincial rival and paying a boatload for Hart

More value than the eighth overall pick and a defensive prospect probably worth a second round pick? Funny.

Toronto isn’t looking for futures for a team that wants to win now and a guy that put up 40 goals and 87 points.

Okay, then say "that's not the type of return that makes sense for Toronto." Because Nylander sure as hell doesn't get this type of return if they're looking for futures. Not even remotely close.

You’d need to go back to the 1980’s to find a player better than William Nylander that was drafted 8th overall, but sure, tell me how he is not worth more than the 8th overall. Actually, don’t bother.

NO ONE was saying Nylander isn’t an elite offensive player. If you can’t wrap your head around why Nylander with one year on his contract and almost out of his prime isn’t worth the eighth overall pick this year, you legitimately need to sit down and think about it long and hard. By your logic, Pittsburgh could trade Crosby for the Bedard pick. How about Tampa trades stamkos for the Bedard pick?

Every comment you make gets less grounded in reality. Jesus.

That’s no what I said. Stop playing silly childish games and trying to put words in my mouth. The comparison was how many players drafted 8th overall are better than Nylander? Pretty much none. So the odds are very slim that the 8th overall would be as good. History is proof. Nylander is also not almost past his prime — he’s just turned 27. He has exactly one year left because players cannot be extended until July 1st of the final year of their contract.

But comparing an analysis of 8th overalls to Bedard is probably the dumbest **** I’ve seen on this site — ever. Congrats, you are the new king. Keep your 8th overall. Good luck in the draft.

Oh so your argument gets invalidated (because it’s awful and makes zero sense) so you go to attacking my intelligence. Nylander could be the best 8th overall pick ever. Doesn’t matter. He’s not worth the eighth overall pick right now. If only you had the brain power to figure it out. I’ll assume you don’t and do myself a favor and add you to the ignore list to save myself from the ignorance and superiority complex.

Maybe one day you will. Good luck little buddy.

What invalidated the argument besides your imagination? It’s a coincidence that Nylander was drafted 8th overall. Ignore that for a second — how many players drafted 8th overall are better than him? Waiting. Let me help you, none for the last 35 years. So keep your 8th pick, enjoy it and the Leafs, who want to win now, will keep their just turned 27 year-old 40 goal scorer that had 87 points and was their best player on many nights.

P.S. Bedard and Crosby have ZERO to do with this.
