All In in All this clears out most of Ottawa's picks and prospects for a goalie a non 2nd liner and an overpaid 3rd liner. Its a no look at better options for Debrincat and go free agent fishing

The only thing about that Carolina trade that's a win for Ottawa is that Debrincat might be too expensive for the Canes and the Sens get those assets without Carolina getting anything. If they can get him on a cheap bridge deal, Carolina takes that Debrincat deal and runs for the damn hills, even for that price.

Also, can you buyout retained salary deals? Murray's already gone.

What is happening is there is a rumor that Toronto will buyout Murray. Since ottawa has retained 25% of Murray's salary, the buyout formula will be applied to the 25% that they retained automatically. So if Toronto does the buyout, both teams get a reduction. Ottawa has no say in it and they can't buyout Murray themselves. It is all Toronto's ball game as it were.
