goalies dont carry that much value. Hart especially will not. He may have been the best player on Philly but his stats are still bad and not worthy of that deal.

some team is likely going to give philly a decent package near that value as they throw in a bad cap deal going back. Canes dont have that to drive up the cost.

If Carolina wanted him, it would probably cost the 30OA and a lower tier prospect than Gunler, but not much else.

Carolina should just sign someone like Varlamov to 1A Kochetkov for a year until he's ready to take the starting role. No need for Hart. They need more scoring on the wing.

Philly will get a decent package because they take back a bad deal in the exchange getting themselves two 2nd rounders or a lower 1st.

He's also RFA expiry and could be retained.

this is just not true, hes a 24 yo entering his prime with rfa status remaining with less than 4mil cap hit who has experience and played well in front of a **** team most seasons. the flyers dont have to move him given his age and he will still be in his prime when they should be competitive again. teams like who are close but lack goaltending (edmonton) should go for it cuz if the flyers arent blown away by the deal they simply wont make a move. the flyers got that haul for provy and taking on expiring contracts a hart deal would be similar if not more.

24 year old Carter Hart will get a very good return. His QO is below 4.5M after the season. Age, contract, and ability are all positives.

Kuemper got Timmins and a 1st plus a conditional 3rd for one season. Hart has multiple seasons of control. He’ll get at least a 1st and 3rd.

wut? they go that for Prov because they took on 1 cap dump that would have needed a 1st + (if not 2 1sts) just to dump (petersen and his 2 years left) and a mid round cap dump as well. honestly they basically traded a retained Prov for 2 2nds. They got a 1st and a falling prospect to take on the cap dumps. LA was able to sell those two cap dumps off that cheap because they retained on prov.

teams dont go oh man let me pay top 5 goalie prices for a guy who could be top 5 on our team although his was bottom 20-25th starter by stats. You pay a little more because he has control after the deal and hope he grows into what you hope he can be.

hart may very well be involved in a deal that gets a good return but it will because the Flyers took on a cap dump or two to make it happen.

You’re right, it is apples and oranges. Hart carries a lot more value than Kuemper based on age and contract. But Kuemper trade also shows that goalies do carry value even for one season.

CAR won’t be the destination unless Konecny is in the package too but Hart alone will get a very good return.
