Kyle traded 6 1st round picks in his 5 years here. He has Jake McCabe left to show for all of them.

Muzzin - LTIR
ROR - UFA
Foligno - Waste of a pick & a brutal trade
Marleau - Contract dump
Mrazek - Contract dump

Kyle is riding the coattails of inheriting Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, and Reilly. Heck he even squandered Hyman, Kadri and Anderson. So glad he’s gone.

Yeah he squandered them, cause they all performed so well. Lou left Kyle a disorhanized mess of trash defence & veterans that failed in their own right, contracts that needed to get signed as well as several deals that were dragging the organization down.Kyle also acquired a 1st so he gained one of the things he lost, Jake Muzzin wasn’t a bad deal at all, The Foligno trade is a case of rather gave up the 1st then the 2nd who became Knies, Mrazek was a perfectly fine trade & got a very good C prospect in Fraser Minten

That’s some twisted logic. Knies was a gift from his scouts. Have you seen the tape where Dumbas wants to trade the pick and his scouts have to convince him not to?

It wasn’t just a 1st for Foligno it was a 1st and 2 4ths. It was also a 3rd for Ritich, 5th for Hutton, 7th for Nash. It was maybe the worst deadline in history. The Leafs traded a 1st, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 5th, 7th for a guy (Foligno) that played 4 games in the playoffs and had one assist. He played 4th line center in game 7. None of the other players played a playoff game. An entire draft for a 4th line center?

He set precedents by trading a 1st round pick with Marleau to dump one-year. It had never been done before. He panicked. If Marner had signed an offersheet the Leafs could have matched by going over the cap 10% in the off-season.

He signed precedent setting deals with Mathews and Marner that led them straight to UFA. McDavid or Eichel and no comparables at the time were as fortunate. These deals handcuffed the Leafs for years and if either player bolts you have Dumbas to thank.

Lou left him with a core unlike few others. Lou left him with Hyman, Kadri, and Anderson. Lou didn’t handcuff him with stupid contracts to Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander — he did it all by himself. 5 years and the putz didn’t add anyone significant to the core and has only Jake McCabe left after trading SIX 1st round picks in 5 years. Dumbas.

So you blame Kyle for Folignos back injury, The Core not performing, Disregard the Zaitsev, Marleau deals that he had to get rid of, Don’t even consider the fact of Muzzin’s unfortunate Injury woes, The Cap turning into a Flat cap or else Kyle likely is able to upgrade so much more(no one anticipated a global pandemic), yes he committed money to 4 guys but he also expected the cap to be around 98-100 mil by now, it’s really not fair to him with all honesty, I think Kyle did a very good job with the hand he was given, he did not leave a ****show like Lou left him with a God Awful D-Core, overpaid players & a Bottom 6 more suited for the retirement home. You blame Kyle but lack every bit of context, mainly he got every pick that he gave for Foligno back which makes me laugh when you bring it up. Lisowsky, Hildeby & Moldenhauer. It’s pretty ironic when Knies trumps Cuelmans in the sense of prospect value & overall future in the league. As for your first point Karlsson, Bobrovsky, Panarin all guys signed for 10+ mil the Marner deal so I would watch what you say about precedents caused by Kyle, as for Marleau, I really Don’t blame Kyle, I blame Shanny. All trades have to go through the board so the fact you blame one guy for a calculated risk made by the board is ****ing hilarious

Kyle does get the blame — all of it. Foligno was injured BEFORE the trade. Kyle could have and should have used those 6 1st round picks & dozens of others more wisely. Why trade for someone if he’s not better than what you have? Kyle never added to the core and never beefed up the D like he should have. Everyone has injuries.

Comparing Matthews, Marner deals to UFA deals is laughable.

Kyle is a primadonana. A kid handed the keys to a ready made team with a top young core and tons of picks. He was not ready to handle being the GM of a multi-billion dollar franchise. Shanny takes the blame for hiring him, but Shanny wanted someone he could control — he couldn’t control Lou.

Traded pretty much an entire draft for what? A bunch of guys watching from the press box and a 4th line center? Couldn’t be more stupid.

Stupid is as stupid does. Got handed a top young core. Added ZERO players to that core. Subtracted Hyman, Kadri, & Anderson. Traded SIX 1st round picks. Only has Jake McCabe to show for those first rounders. Young rookie GM way over his head.

Soup **** the bed in the playoffs. Woll? Hunter’s draft pick? Trading back for picks and missing out on Konecny? He failed to fix this teams weaknesses. Too soft for the playoffs. Too small on defence. questionable goaltending. No scoring from the bottom 2 lines.
