I feel like these moves are just unnecessary. You could just take Girard and maybe a couple of the assets used in the Backlund (Backlund is on the wrong side of 30 and isn’t a long-term fix for 2C) deal to land Schmaltz instead of Crouse, who can be a potential replacement for 2C. Sean Monahan is a great player when he’s healthy, key is when he’s healthy. He was out of the lineup for the vast majority of last season and isn’t a safe addition to a team that was as ravaged by injuries like the Avs were last year. There are many different options for the Avs this off-season to retool their Bottom 9 and I don’t think that giving up all the assets that you did here is smart for that. Also with the 4th line there are a ton of players you could’ve resigned instead but that is just a nitpick. I do think that this team should take some gambles but shouldn’t risk everything.

All bad trades for the Avs.

Lawson Crouse is so loved because he is big and not that he isn’t particularly effective, Girard is hated because he is small and it’s ignored that he is particularly effective. That’s a particularly horrible trade for COL because on a healthy Avs team Crouse is at best the 5th best winger.

Francouz could get you more than a 4th, but Washington doesnt need a goalie so it'd have to be someone else
