Description
Not loving this team. Probably a bubble team that ultimately misses but we did improve in the offseason. Hexy replaced our 2 worst players (Rinaldo and Grossmann) with Gagner (solid 3rd line and 2nd PP unit option) and Medvedev (yes, hasn't playing in the NHL and is 32 but has been one of the better Dmen in the KHL for a while, and lets face it, it's impossible he'll be worse than Grossmann), and also, that draft tho. If everything goes right I can see a playoff berth but the division is tough. Pieces like, Luke Schenn and Mark Streit are outta here at the deadline, and depending on where we are in the standings and how they're playing, Gagner and Medvedev as well. Can only pray Vinny retires this year and AMac is selected for a special mission to Mars.

For Flyers's fans next year doesn't look any better. If MacDonald, Streit and Lecavalier aren't moved, and Voracek's contract starting next year at 8.2m a year, the cap looks awful. Not so bad if it's a Cup contender, but not if you're a
hope to make the playoffs contender.
Think the chances of AMac is on a Mars mission is better than Vinny retiring or the ability to move 5.25m a year Streit.

If Vinny doesn't want to retire then he'll probably agree to a mutual contract termination, there were rumblings of that near the end of this past season. That way he can go to a team that wants him and where he can be happy with his role. Streit's cap looks like a lot but he's worth it, he's got 96 points since signing here and as long as he's on that 1st PP unit with G and Jake he'll be fine.
