Instead of taking multiple pieces from Montreal for PLD only to leave them with 5OA where the player is going to be pushed to the wing anyhow, we add our 1st so they trade down 12 spots, add PLD, unite the Barron brothers and as much as it pains me, we move out Ville to seal the deal. We draft Smith/Carlson as our 1c of the future.
We move Helle and DeMelo to the Sabres as they are ready to compete now, especially with the turmoil in TO.
We get 13OA (grab Dickerson there as a 2c of the future) we also get Krebs, jokiharju and ukka as they are excess to Buffalo but pieces we can use.
With the success in Seattle the Hawks decide to try to keep that group together. In return we get to unite the Reichel cousins and grab a rhd with potential in Rinzel. I feel like we might need to add something else… maybe Rash but I wasn’t sure.
Carolina loads up with 55 at $3M hit and unite the Lucius boys. We get back the cost certainty of Kotka that maybe has more or at worst can be our 3C of the future once Lowry ages our. We get Carolinas late 1st and another high potential RHD in Morrow.
LA needs a long term LHD option with some bite. A think Stanley can be that for them but maybe there’s a different trade or return that makes sense there.
Maybe we could even trade up with Vancouver by taking a bad contract so the Habs only trade back 6 picks.
Open to debating any of the trades.
I think this leaves well positioned on RHD going forward with Morrow, Rinzel, Bauer, salomonsson and at c with 5OA, 13oa, kotka filling out the middle. Perfetti, Rutger, Krebs, Ehlers, KFC, the Reichels.
With JMo, Samberg our top 4 lhd is solidified and maybe Chisholm is that 3d. Moving Stanley and Heinola suddenly makes us a bit thin with really just Kuzmin coming but maybe that Carolina pick is a lhd.
I did open discussion... add the 5oa pick and get the 19th in return... Chi is going to end up with the 11th OA anyways so... Van needs out of the hole they dug, and Chi is willing to help, but VAN will be paying, and paying alot
To move from 17 to 5 I gave up 17, pld, Barron and Heinola. I actually thought it was a tongue in cheek response of the huge over correction on the counter to show how crazy the original ask was.
My bad for not recognizing it as a serious counter.
Reichel just isn’t proven enough for me to consider anything like that. He went ppg in the AHL and had a promising 20 game stretch but I’m not familiar enough to know if it was a hot spell, a cold spell or if that production could be counted on in the future.
The entire acgm is based on drafting a top line C at 5 so I couldn’t then trade that pick for a winger. As an ncaa player Rinzel has risk for us too as it’s easy for people to just skip to UFA. It always makes me nervous until they actually sign.

You look at Logan Cooley and you just wonder…
And here I was thinking I was responding to a VAN AGM lmao... oops... I know you highly rate your unproven prospect, but Reichel is a proven NHL level player and will only get better, Rinzel is a RHD, and coveted. It would take a much better offer than the one prospect to get Davidson to move from his players.
