Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

Description

Off-season moves and 1st game day roster for the 23-24 season. We're trying to make another deep run in the playoffs.

Some things to note about this roster:
-Hawks slowed down a bit this season and got exposed multiple times in the last half of the season and playoffs.
-Sean Monahan had a good start to his season last year, but unfortunately had another season ending injury and had surgery. Is possibly looking for a short term "prove myself" contract before possibly signing his last contract somewhere else.
-Suter buyout to make cap space
-Scott Mayfield was solid for the Islanders, is used to a defensive system, and would complement Harley very well.
-The Fredriks were part of the Stars organization so they are returning players.

Hawks, in my opinion, didn't play too well the last half of the season, especially in this past second round vs Seattle. He was slow and got exposed numerous times and was scored on a lot. I know he was hurt, I'm just sure if he was hurt the whole series. I don't think he was but he definitely should not have played in game 6.

Can't see Mayfield signing that cheap, and especially not at that low term. I'd wager he gets around 4 - 4.5 per for a 4 or 5 year deal.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure on this. His stats totals weren't anything impressive so I didn't know if his value was more on the defensive side or if he plays on the PK. I could see something like 2.5-4.5M for a guy like him depending on a)if teams actually want a him on the team and b)what his skillset actually is.

Mostly it's his defensive game that's going to be the draw for him, along with his size. He was relied on pretty heavily for defensive assignments, and was probably one of the Isles better players in terms of shot suppression. He also led the Isles in minutes/game on the PK. I'm not sure if he's worth the 4 - 4.5 million, but I'm fairly certain he'll get it unless he takes less to play somewhere specific.
