Interesting thought but probably doesn't happen this off season with Seattle. Given Panarin's contract Seattle won't be looking for that kind of structure. First round draft pick wouldn't be part of the trade either. I could see them doing something like this after next season when contracts start coming off the books and they hopefully have a more complete prospect pool.

I think the 1st should be 2nd-3rd and SEA will have far more interest. I like that for both teams

It's a hard sell because the Kraken lose 6M in space and that means losing Dunn and/or Beniers. That alone makes this happening in the off season difficult without moving other mid-range contracts off the books. Since Seattle is still trying to build a prospect pool there are some additional nuances to what they are willing to trade in terms of prospects. Overall I expect Francis to be aggressive to FA's but conservative on trades.

As it stands SEA can’t afford Dunn, this would be the season to deal him to a team that needs him. He’s getting 7.5-8.5M for sure. I’d bet on it that Dunn is moved. Dunn would return prospects/replacement. Moving the 3rd in the above scenario is not going to do anything against a prospect pool. Moving another forward isn’t a bad idea either with wright nearly ready for nhl full time. Venue RS is safe as he will be a small bridge deal in 2 years anyway and the cap will be jumping. Francis structured the expansion draft on analytics so for him to start to add those high end skill players to fill voids makes sense but who knows. Maybe he tries the same approach for a few more years

They're looking at about 18M in space for the off season. Dunn will eat about 38 to 44% of that. Will need one RFA (Borgen more than likely) on D signed, or bring up Evans. Soucy, Sprong, and Donato will be allowed to test FA with Geekie signed. Keep Kartye on the roster, Burakovsky is back, and Wright is back on the roster next year (Even though he should be in the AHL - time will tell how they quantify his 4 seasons in the CHL needed to get there).

Ya I see all that for sure. I’m not sold on Dunn as #1 guy. Love him at his 4M and even at 6M but that next level seems like Trouba territory. Time will tell with FA this summer and draft

Agree there. But he was almost a point/game player and just hitting his prime. Regardless he is poised to be the top paid Kraken player next year if they extend. He's on record as saying he wants to stay here but that hasn't bode well for Seattle fans of other sports. If the organization can't reach an agreement then I think you see them qualify his rights and trade.
