Actually I really like that idea of a Toews/Nylander swap. I think it makes sense for both teams.

Please explain how it would benefit the Avs? Keep in mind Nuch will be back for the 23-24 season. Toews would really help the Leafs but Nylander wouldn't thrive in the Avs system. Bednar won't let him free wheel, avoid corners or defensive ccoverage and still get top usage.

You guys are missing Landy the entire year. I know they have way different play styles but losing Landy is a big hit and they need someone to take his place up front. If anything it’s a better fit for the avs than the leafs. Nylander could either play on a loaded top line at LW or you put him on the second line.

Nylander won't be the only wing being shopped to COL, Avs have options that don't require Toews to be traded. I don't think it's a 100% no, but Toews is possibly too good to give up for a team like Colorado still in their window. Even if the avs are unable to re-sign him next season

That’s true, but if he’s available he’d be the best winger on the market. And the avs are deep on defence.

Nylander's play is not a fit for the Avs. He would give Bednar an aneurysm, Mack would make Nylander cry in practice, no joke. He might be the polar opposite of Landy. He makes more than Toews, and the Avs are toight with the cap(budgeting for Landy in 24-25). They cant afford to extend Nylander and if they traded Toews, they would have to replace him with negative monies. There is still hope Toews can be extended. While Byram is the truth, he isn't able to do what Toews does so well for the Avs. The forwards would get softer and have an outcast style player and D would get weaker.

There's a big market for Nylander but, the Avs aint in it.

First of all, I specifically said they have way different play styles. For the record, I prefer Landy as he’s one of my favourite players in the league. But you can’t tell me that Nylander isn’t guy who could take his spot in the lineup, and they need someone up front badly. Nylander is the best winger on the market if he’s available

Best available doesn't mean he's the best fit for the Avs. I don't see the avs wanting to send Toews, who they could easily re-sign if Landy doesn't ever make it back, for Nylander, who they probably couldn't afford after a season of playing on what would be the best line in hockey.

Yah I see what you mean but I think Nylander>Toews overall and the position of the players make sense to swap.

Nylander is not a guy who could take his spot in the line up and not completely mess up the style of play either top 6 line has played for the last couple seasons. He plays too soft on the puck to play with Mack(he would kick him off his line or make him cry in between shifts) and not defensively responsible or gritty enough to be on the 2nd line. If you watched how the avs play and understand how systems work, you would know how bad of a fit he would be. I say all this just focusing on Nylander's fit, no cost to acquire weighing it down. Throw in it costing Toews( having to replace at top 15 dman in the league) while getting defensively worse up front, it's a bad plan.

Ok if you say so, you would obviously watch more avs games than me so I’m not gonna argue. I still think he’d be a good fit but each to his own.

As a fellow Sasky, I am sorry for coming in hotter than a summer in Yellowgrass. The free wheeling way Nylander uses his skill and creativity to produce would be a contrast to the Avs high tempo, in your face style. Possibly my biggest issue with his fit is how often wingers on all lines have to hang back and be defensemen for the Avs elite dcore jumping into or starting the rush.

All good man. I get it, sometimes player just don’t fit on some teams. Frankly I’d like the leafs to hang on to Willy anyways. He is a good fit in Torontos system
